Often I am asked to teach special lectures or lead discussions on topics ranging from education reform, teaching approaches for native speakers in Korea, teaching multiculturalism to non-English speaking adults, and on bullying in elementary schools.
Below I have provided some of the materials I have prepared for such lectures. If you would like me to speak at your school or conference, please contact me via email at (charles@upuntilmidnight.com)
It doesn't matter what country you live in, this problem exists everywhere. I often find (and have found evidence supporting) the fact that countries that deny the problem often have children suffering the most from this pressing problem. Below I have linked some of the materials that I have prepared to teach this seminar.
Target Audience: Teachers or Students in Teachers Colleges
Seminar Length: 4 hours
Presentation File: Deconstructing Bullying
Handout 1: What Is Bullying?
Handout 2: Reflections on Bullying: What Teachers Can do
Materials: Laser projector, whiteboard, board markers, paper, pens, wood blocks
The Genesis of this series was in response to the growing ignorance of this problem in South Korea. Unfortunately this problem is not dealt with properly by teachers or principals in public elementary schools, so in response, while working at a teachers' college (Gyeongin National University of Education) I decided to have special seminars for my first and second-year students. The response was overwhelming. They really appreciated these various lectures, workshops, and activities which shed light on the causes of bullying and how to council victims and bullies-alike.
