Views on Writing

I think, first, to be a halfway decent writer one must be well read. You must be versed in the theories and dare I say 'zeitgeist' de jour.

A good writer consumes as much raw material as possible, then through a cognitive thought process, interprets the data and applies his or her take on the subject at hand. 

The reason why I bring this up here and now, is that I find a lot of people writing and getting material published often do it without fully understanding the greater picture. This usually can be easily spotted and their uni-dimensional argument often falls flat (for me). 

So I suggest to anyone that wants to write (for a living), first, start reading!
